How Television Quietly Taught Me to Understand People

Some of the most important lessons I've ever learned didn't come from a leadership seminar or a business book. They came from a hospital bed.
Learning English through television.
Learning culture through nurses and everyday interactions.
Beginning to compare what you observed on television with what you observed in real life.
Realizing that great writers exaggerate personality traits just enough to make patterns easier to recognize.
Discovering that once you learn to recognize those patterns on screen, you begin seeing them in everyday life.
Connecting that realization to leadership, curiosity, and becoming.
I don't study stories because I love television. I study stories because they help me understand people. And the better I understand people...the better I understand leadership.
